My favorite accommodations in Nicaragua! The staff are friendly and helpful, and other travellers are easy to meet in the open air bar/restaurant. The treehouse dorms are neat (though a little small), and the private rooms are huge and luxurious with japanese-style outdoor showers. Atmosphere is laid-back. Food is good, and the set dinner menu was delicious while we were there. Watch the sun set beside the volcano from the top of the “treehouse”!

Great place to stay if you want to meet other backpackers. I had a great time at Little Morgans, and I’ll never forget it. I was there for three nights, and I met people from all over the world in those three days. While I was staying there, three girls arrived wanting a place to stay, but Morgan’s was full. The owner drove them to several other resorts trying to help them find a place to saty. I thought that was really cool of him. The staff were incredible. They were all super friendly and made amazing food.

Incredibly friendly and helpful staff. Good, affordable food; cheap, delicious drinks. They are very upfront about being an open, airy place, and bugs are part of that. They provide mosquito nets on the beds, but be aware, there are lots of bugs. This is a great place for laid-back travelers/backpackers who don’t mind bathrooms and showers outside (private with bamboo walls) and having bugs/geckos in the rooms. Again, they are very upfront about the open air quality of their place and their attempts to minimize impact on the environment (such as unnecessarily changing sheets/towels, but all you have to do is ask). A fun, nice place to stay if none of these things bother you. My only suggestion would be more hammocks and places to lounge, read and relax in the sun.

Wow. just wow. I can’t say enough great things about this place. My friends and I stayed in one of the private rooms for 3 nights and had a great time. They arranged a hike up Ometepe with a local guide (who they let keep all the profit)…they serve up amazing and hearty meals…perfect after a day of moving around exploring, and best of all, they have a friendly and HELPFUL staff that’s fun to hang out with.

Little Morgans, I’ll be back for sure!

This is the coolest jungleesque hostel I’ve stayed at, right on the lake and excellent reasonably priced food which makes up for the distance from Moyogalpa. The hosts were super helpful and awesome all round. I loved it. Hard to leave.

I loved, loved, LOVED little morgans!! The staff (especially the lovely RIchard), were so kind, helpful and accommodating. The food was delicious, the music was great, and we felt like our beautiful dorm above the main room was a private treehouse. The location is spectacular and the atmosphere is just perfect. I would recommend this hostel to anyone!!

We have great memories of a stay here in January 2011- great location, party place, but also quiet and relaxing. Beautiful setting, views, wildlife, creative wooden buildings. They didnt have a private room so book ahead if you want one. We ended up in the amazing dorm building in a double bed. It was actually really private set in a little nook (although obviously no funny business allowed!). beds are fine and good value (14 bucks I think).
One of the nicest things about little morgans is the people / atmosphere. As soon as we arrived the staff learnt our names along with at least 25 other guests- I dont know how they do it but it definately helps make everyone feel at ease and be sociable in the dining/ drinking/lounge area. they run a tab and you pay at the end of your stay. Guests add to the genial atmosphere as little morgans seems to attract people who want to be sociable – we love these kind of places because it’s often difficult to meet people hen travelling in a couple.

A fun and relaxed place.

When you walk down the hill, the sweet-water lake expands in front of you. A path opens to your right. A palm frawn thatched cantina appears before you.

Greetings come at you from all sides. Your not sure who works there or who is just being friendly. “Would you like to take a look at a private casita or the lakeside dorms,” someone asks you. Ah, they must work here you think to yourself.

You and your guide pass the pool table as you leave the open wall-less cantina. All manner of strange Central American plants surround the path that leads you closer to the lake and the dorms. The latter appears to be Peter Pan’s home away from Neverland. Banisters and walls are formed by lacquered tree branches and roof is made of local clay tiles. As you climb the stairs to the third floor mirador a view wraps around you and fills you like a deep breath that both calms you and excites. No matter what your previous troubles in you previous life, all is well now; it all makes sense. The sky meets the water meets the island meets the wood meets your feet meets you. You let go of that deep breath and it meets the sky. The cycle is completed unbroken.

Your home.

The staff and the regulars and the locals join with you at meals and pool games and drinks. If you are welcome to them, they take you in as part of the family.

I arrived at Little Morgan’s after a long day travelling having been recommended here as a great place to stay. It is set in the most beautiful place, Isla de Ometepe. The island has 2 volcanoes, which really are breath taking, especially at sunset. Little Morgan’s was a wonderful place, with a great bar that has a lovely atmosphere. You can play pool, watch a bit of TV or just chill in a hammock with a beer and chat if that’s what you fancy. I stayed in a dorm which was an experience in itself. The dorm rooms are so beautifully made with intricate wood work carved into all the beds and doors. You feel like you’re in a fantasy world! It was spectacular, and with each bed having a built in mosquito net you are guaranteed a good nights sleep. Make sure you take a fishing trip out on the lake. You get a great view of the volcanoes and you can come back and cook your fish for supper on the BBQ. But the best thing about this place was the staff, they really were so friendly and helpful in every way. They made the place feel so homely and relaxed, and ensured we all had a wonderful time there. If you read this, and you’re heading to Nicaragua make sure you stop off here! And don’t have a time limit.
